Since September 1996 Karlsruhe has a direct link to international air traffic: Baden Airport (Airport Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden) is right on our doorstep .

Baden Airport

The Baden Airport (Airport Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden) is located directly adjacent to A 5 Baden-Baden - Karlsruhe. Driving time about 15 minutes. It was opened on 20th September 1996 for private use. On 17th May 1997 the first charter plane started for Mallorca. Meanwhile there are many charter flights to tourist destinations as well as scheduled flights to numerous international airports.

Stuttgart Airport

Stuttgart Airport is situated directly adjacent to the A 8 motorway, Munich - Karlsruhe. About 1 hr by car from Karlsruhe. There is a shuttle bus connection from Stuttgart Airport to Stuttgart Main Station. The Deutsche Bahn AG will give you any information you need about rail connections.

Frankfurt Airport

Frankfurt Airport is located directly adjacent to the A 5 motorway, Frankfurt - Karlsruhe. About 1 hour and 15 minutes by car from Karlsruhe. The Deutsche Bahn AG offers rail connections to and from Karlsruhe from Frankfurt Airport and from Frankfurt Main Station. The Deutsche Bahn AG gives information about arrival and departure times.

Basel Airport

The Euro Airport Basel (Basel, Mulhouse, Freiburg) is located near the A 5 Basel - Karlsruhe (exit Weil am Rhein/Hüningen, signposted). About 1 hour and 45 minutes by car from Karlsruhe.

Strasbourg Airport

You can reach Strasbourg Airport on the A 5 Karlsruhe - Basel. Take the junction Appenweier towards Strasbourg (signposted). Time by car about 1 hour.

Travel by train

Karlsruhe forms an important junction of the Deutsche Bahn (German national railway) and is situated directly on the ICE (high-speed train) route of Hamburg - Frankfurt - Basel. The east-west axis of Karlsruhe - Stuttgart - Munich starts here. Times: Below you will find the approximate times for journeys by the Deutsche Bahn AG to and from Karlsruhe.

Arrival and departure times are available at the Deutsche Bahn AG.

The newly renovated main station at Karlsruhe is in the southern centre of the city just opposite the Municipal Gardens / Zoo. If you leave the station through the main exit, you will find the taxi stand and the tram stop on the square in front of the station. On the opposite side of the square you will also find tourist information.

To reach the Conference venue from Karlsruhe Railway Station take the City Railway see below:

Travel by car

From the Northwest (Cologne, Bonn)

When travelling in the left of the Rhine, take the A 61 motorway towards Ludwigshafen. Then at the motorway junction "Hockenheim", take the A 6 towards Nuremberg (Nürnberg) and Heilbronn. At the motorway junction "Walldorf ", take the A 5 towards Karlsruhe and Basel. When travelling on the right of the Rhine, take the A 3 towards Frankfurt/Main. At the Mönchhof intersection, take the A 67 towards Ludwigshafen, and at the motorway junction "Darmstadt" take the A 5 towards Karlsruhe.

From the North (Hamburg, Frankfurt)

Take the A 5 towards Karlsruhe and Basel.

From the East (Munich, Stuttgart)

Take the A 8 to the motorway triangle at Karlsruhe, then take the A 5 towards Frankfurt (if you want to depart at Karlsruhe-Durlach or at Karlsruhe "Mitte") or take the A 5 towards Basel (if you want to leave the motorway at Karlsruhe "Süd").

From the East (Nuremberg)

Take the A 6 to motorway triangle at Walldorf, then take the A 5 towards Karlsruhe.

From the South (Basel, Strasbourg)

Take the A 5 towards Karlsruhe and Frankfurt.

From the West (Paris, Saarbrücken)

Take the A 6 towards Ludwigshafen and Mannheim to the motorway junction Frankenthal, then take the A 61 towards Ludwigshafen, after Ludwigshafen, at the triangle Hockenheim take the A 6 towards Nuremberg and Heilbronn. At the motorway junction Walldorf take the A 5 towards Karlsruhe and Basel.

Motorway Exits

To reach the conference venue leave Autobahn A5 at the exit Karlsruhe-Durlach in direction to Karlsruhe. Follow the signs "KONGRESSZENTRUM".
